    Ah.... Suzie

I saw Suzi Q too, at the Hordern Pavilion...that would have been about 1974 as well...I sooooooooo wanted to be like Suzi Q...all that leather...mind you, I was at the time a bikies moll ( as Numpty so kindly puts it!! )

Years later, in fact 1998, I literally walked into Suzi at Tulla airport. Took me a few seconds to realize who I had collided with. Then, I was mesmerized. She was so pleasant. I ended up talking to her for about 10 minutes. Told her about the 74 concert, the leather and she got a laugh out of that too. Two things I'll never forget about her. First, she has the most amazing eyes and you can't help but look at them. Second, she is such a tiny little thing. Much smaller than I had imagined even knowing that she was not tall. It made my day!!!

The FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM saw them about 5 time as differant places and were fantastic at each one.

But the best band i have seen live was The Cult at Brighton in 1996. Big band in a small gig in a Night Club. Fantasic.

    Matt Taylor and Chain.
    Chris Finnen and India Pacifica.
    John Swann and Mickey Finn.
    Kevin borritch Express.
The Gutter Boys, became the Thoroughly Good Party Boys.
    The Zep Boys.
Blind Dog and The Guides. A personal favourite. Personal friendship, blue's harp player Wally, Blind dog himself, sadly passed away now.
An odd assortment of musicians that did the military clubs, early 1970's, called themselves Skyhooks.
    Fritz and the Katz.
    The (mighty) Masters Apprentices.
A Sydney fusion band called Alladin Soul.
Another Sydney blue's outfit called Old Kids Off Their Blocks.
A struggleing mod blue's outfit, trying to find a recording contract, Grinspoon, by name.

Countless bands, vaguely remembered, in places I'd forgoten I'd been to.

    Some lesser lights such as,

    Deep Purple.
    Fleetwood Mac.
    The Zoo.
    B.B.King.
    Albert King.
    Carlos Rodriques.

My brain is starting hurt, with this membrin stuff, can I have a rest now?

New keyboard. Got to teach my fingers to spell, all over again.

    Shorty.

Ooh, I forgot David Essex, At the Palaise, Brighton Beach, England. Not actually a fan, I was a young sailor, Essex = girls, you work it out.

Who sir, me sir? This is the short list. When you run a social club, even a casual bush club, you see lots of bands live. Even more don't pass the auditions.

    Shorty.

Best bands live, where do you start, first you have to remember,
when was the first, i reckon you can't go past aussie bands ,
let me think now in some sort of order,
who remembers the Dave Miller set?
Billy Thorpe and the aztecs Hordern Pavillion about 1973?
Ol 55, Kevin Borich Express, Buffalo, Maroubra Seals Club about the same or 1974 or 75,
then the good stuff started at the Bondi Lifesaver, Shyhooks (almost the resident band, even through to the change with bob spencer who was a mate of a mate) rose tattoo, that angry i don't think i ever saw him sober between sets and boy is he short..
saw the Doobie bros at the showground or cricket ground, not sure about 1973.( i remember who i went with)
then a host of others, the angels, radiators,jo jo zep and the falcons, the village people at twin towns rsl
    robert palmer
then in the mid 80's got a sly job at the sydney entertainment centre. doing security, saw them all
queen, bruce springsteen , jimmy barnes, inxs, bob dylan, with tom petty, dire straights, midnight oil, john denver, joe jackson, jackson brown, phil collins,a young danni minogue, billy joel, tina turner, simple minds
stevie nicks, the uncanny x-men, mental as anything, elton john( most memborable moment there, was watching his tongue disappear in molly meldrums throat, backstage) kim carnes, martha davis and the motels, paul kelly , some dud pommie group called shriekback.

there were more but i can't remember them,

then the years went on, the most recent great one was the eagles at the brisbane ent centre, took my son and a friend to see the Living End at the bisbane convention centre. good aussie band even for an oldie,
ahh memories, just remembered saw the rolling stones, not playing but visiting the maroubra surf club in the early 60's( i think)

And that dive selina's. quiggers you might have been working inside when we from randwick ps were outside arresting all the idiots coming out.

    ah the good old days

time to pull out some vinyl, oops cds and hear some good music.

    john
