After talking to a couple of mates from the highway patrol, I'am led to believe that altho lights mounted above the head lights are illegal you will only be fined if you are caught using them on a designated road, unless you pi#s the cops off. and they also advise that the lights have covers like the old hella's just in case you accidently turn them on.

have to admit i think they look crap as well......
and a quick read of the adr's will almost certainly see you finding them illegal here, unless you want them for a comp vehicle or similar.........
They look like they're from QT over here in the UK....
Drop Dave an e-mail to see if his Oz distributer carries them. If not then it's going to cost $$$ to get it over.
FWIW - Roof mounted work a lot better than bonnet mounted as long as you can cancel out the glare.

That is why I have never understood the amount of lights fitted on to roofs. The glare (and you see plenty on white hilux/cruiser/patrol utes must annoy the hell out of you and probably reduce your night vision to the point those extra lights are not doing anything constructive. I'd hate to be driving when they dip them!
Anyone able to test these?
I can see the use if actually "bush" roo shooting where you want to clear bushes etc.
I always had rollbar mounted lights on my utes. Never had a glare issue at all. The roof would stop the light from getting to the bonnet and I mounted them inboard enough that they didn't light up the rear vision mirrors.
