Ok, so this week my dad got a call from a company in WA wanting him to get over there for work, no problem he said. Just give him some time to prepare to move literally to the other side of the country, 178kms south of Perth actually. It's a great thing to happen to our family actually because dad has literally run out of work and job oppurtunities here, and for you on here who have had to look for work when you get older, it's quite hard really. So as all of you know, I have developed a strong bond to my Range Rover as like all of you love your Landies, and wouldn't want anything else. Dad will most definately have to take the Rangie over with him, when I want to start a much needed restoration/rebuild on it soon.
If he takes it with him he will more then likely not rebuild it and drive it to its death, sure there is plenty of old Ranges around but I like my own, thankyou.
Anyway, I have the choice to stay here and but another Rangie, or move to WA and keep my rusty old bomb which holds a special place with me. It's a hard decision because if I move I lose being close to my mates, my other family members and other things. If I goto WA, I could make new friends and have new oppurtunities etc etc. I have always looked forward to living out of home though, and soon will be the time to do that anyway.
Sorry for the long post but I'm just looking for some outside opinions, because I really am split 50/50 on this.

Fair points Mick and DeeJay! I know there is great things about moving over and great things about staying aswell. Thing is Mick that I don't actually have my Ps yet (lazy) and staying here for my job would get me the cash to be independent etc. I can always drive over to see my old man later on aswell don't forget
I wonder if any members in WA can comment on the trails over there?
How old are you?
Does your current job pay you enough to live out of home?
Do you want to stay in current job, change jobs or study?
Living with your parents does have its benefits. As does living out of home.

Turning 20 in August, yes my job will support me easily. I am going to try and get over to Canada mid next year because I might actually be moving over there.
Ya I know but currently my dad is having lots of financial problems because of the lack of work over here for him, he is self employed plumber and he is actually excited about starting the job in WA. I want to have lots and lots of car parts lying around without the parents whinging, which is the biggest benefit for me hahahaha
Andy - I cant remember what the town is called but is very close to you, within a 20km radius I suppose. Dad will be starting a $100k a year position for a plumbing company. Very nice trail right there! Awesome photos too, I do believe that won points for movign to WA!

WA is sand sand and sand
It has great beach drives not yet closed down like eastern states
It does in the South West Corner have hills and mud to play in around Harvey and Collie
It has big drives like couple days of full on motoring and never leaving the State, it takes 2 days to actually reas WA/SA border from Perth
It has good camping and fishing
It has great job opportunities if your in trade demand jobs for mining and resource sector
It has clean environment
Weather up north hot hot and hot, southwest weather like NSW/VIc
Advice on moving to WA
You only talk about your Dad coming to WA no mention of your Mum or having siblings, if your close to your Dad it may be worth sticking with the old man for a year or two before making your own way into the world.
Living by yourself more expensive than you think, l would look at doing a budget factoring in all your real costs, rent, food, petrol, electric phone, gas, insurance, clothes, beer etc, you will see your wage will quickly evaporate
Sharing with mate sounds good until you realise person your sharing with, don't pay thei contribution to rent, phone or food, drink all your beer and leaves place in mess.
Its down to you at end of day, sounds like your dad got a job around Pinjarra way
Yes it really ****es me off that all of the beach and 4WD tracks here are being closed quite quickly, especially the tracks up here in the mountains. I do love fishing and camping though. Ya I am not one for the hot weather, living 1km above sea level is what I hae climatised to. My mum lives in the US as of December 2006, I only have an older brother who is 23. I know what you mean about living alone, which is why I am still contemplating the move to WA, ideally I'd like to get a mechanics apprenticeship at Land Rover. Really the main thing for us to consider is that it's literally a life changing move, and unlike my dads situation there is still plenty of oppurtunities left here for me.
