    A tad expensive?

    Hello to all,

Spent the last couple of days checking out current prices on used vehicles. D1, D2 and Rangies. Came across one that I thought was a tad expensive. 95 classic, $21,500. God, I hope it's not anyone in here's Hey, it looks good but given the current market

I'm pretty sure I know the one. I was looking for a 95 'classic' and this one popped up.

I told the seller that he was dreaming but he didn't seem interested in dropping the price too much. Given a realistic market price is probably in the $10k-12k range, I'd imagine it would hurt to wipe $10k (or more than 50%) off your expected sale price.

Realistically, unless he drops the price it will never sell.

Mate, I agree with you, he must be dreaming. Surely though, whoever the seller is, they must realistically know the market value of their vehicle, not the price they expect (imagine) it's worth.

Almost exactly one year ago, I saw a 10/95 4.6 HSE, with blue plated 7 seater conversion, lambswool seat covers on all of them, 86000k's, full service history, and could be only described as immaculate, never off the bitumen, go through Albion Auto Auctions for $15250 & sold. First bid $10000. Two dealers standing near me were quite startled by the price as they thought $7500 to $9000 about right. Why? Bad rep. for expensive problems, they said. Could cost a squillion if any undiscovered or hidden faults show up,
    they said.

many Land Rover garages won't take them in as trade in as they can't sell them on with out worries about them costing them money. As by law they have to sell it with a 3 month warrenty.
So as many of them have been burn't by them they just don't take them in anymore. So if you have one in the Uk you can't get rid of it

When I was looking for mine the most expensive D1 I saw was going for $19990 in a 4wd only car yard. It was a Tdi manual and was a rusty bugger. I test drove it anyway as I had nothing else to do. I felt like pulling over and walking back it was so slow.

That was about 8 months ago.

The dealer Ebay classifieds have some very unrealistic prices. However they must sell a few for that price to suckers.
