    Hermaphroditic cattle

Hey NM, I think I got one of them, Tuesday night.
Awoke Wednesday morning, 5 cattle in the paddock not 4. Lovely little pure black Angus calf in the paddock.
That was a shock for a start, none of the breading age girls are pregnant. We just took the matron's steer from her and sent him to the butchers, the younger, still has 2 at foot.
We had a rastafarian redhead Highland bull, in with the girls a few months ago, Duncan by name. A dud by nature, I think, all the girls are still "bulling" each other, so not pregnant, eh?
Thought the new mystery calf was a little bull, had a closer look this morning. Very odd looking back end for a bull. Time will tell.

    Shorty.

Cabbage Patch calf, I think NM. The elder, is a right cow, just doesn't like other cows, the younger sill has 2 at foot. The young bull, coming up 9 months, is getting interested in both the older cows. It would appear, the shaggy red rastafarian Scottish Highland bull called Duncan, is a dud. Both the cows keep bulling each other. Niether cow wants to claim responsibility, so I am now foster mum to a 1 and a bit week old black Angus heifer. Yeah, little girl cow. Too early, not enough coffee, a day later, whilst feeding had a proper look over the calf. Still absolutely no idea where she came from, got one of our white eartags now.

    Shorty.

Yeah, the Angus is a nice looking beast. Dark of hide, rich of flavour.
Just got the last one back from the butchers, dressed out to just over 250 Kg, at 10 months old, Angus Murray Grey cross. The rest better not grow up too quick, got no freezer space left.
