    OT Ebay

    Ok question for you all
If you sell somthing on Ebay and then 3 days later you still can't get in contact with the person who has bought the item (which was a pick up and they live in Victoria and i am in Brisbane) after several emails. And you then see thay have done this sort of thing once before in January
    what would you do.

I don't know the technical answer but I now understand why the sellers generally put a clause at the bottom of what they are selling stating that the 'purchaser must make contact within x number of days after purchase'.

I'm sure someone will know the answer though.

Three days is not really a long time - some people are not on the net 24hrs, some will only see it once or twice a week.

Holidays, work commitments, internet access can all 'interfere' with plain sailing with Ebay.

I normally leave it for 7 days before I go into panic mode.

However I always check the 'ratings' before I buy, and before I commit to sell - and I usually have a 'contact must be made in 7 days.......'

When selling goods on ebay, what you say in the listing is very important - to you, buyer and ebay itself. I once had a somebody pay for an item ( used cat turbo's) and not pick them up for a month. It caused some consternation at the time, but I had not ruled out doing this in the listing. In your case, I would wait an extra few days, and then complain to ebay under the heading of non-payment. Only communicate via ebay ( so ebay can read the corro) and if the buyer fails to contact, ebay can record another NPB against them, and they won't charge any fees. You relist the item ( whether or not it's free I don't know) and hopefully sell it in the normal manner.

If you're feeling stroppy you can get their address and phone number from ebay and give them a call.

Sometimes ebay generated messages get lost. This happens a lot. Doesn't excuse them, but you might try emailing their direct address.

After about a week I might start a dispute resolution. Ebay will send them a message, threats of non-paying bidder listing, all that stuff.

    Cheers
    Simon.

Did you request a read acknowledgment when you sent the email so you can tell that the person got it?

I've been led up the garden path by some who use eBay and I've given it the flick, more trouble than its worth...

yup, there are some very genuine people using it and I have bought things, but, there's also those who are less than genuine.........which is sad

I tried to sell the boat thru eBay and got a lot of d!ckheads, which seemed to rattle the one serious buyer......caveat emptor... wont be going there again.
