    Cleaning engine bay question.

After playing in a bog hole, In a TD5 Defender, I have an engine bay full of brown mud to a thickness of of a few mm. Now my non mechanically minded question. What can I wash with a high pressure hose, without causing any problems. What areas should I avoid. I have already cleaned the radiator, and intercooler, but it is the engine bay I want to clean.
    Thanks,

    Ken

    Hi Ken
I have one of those cheap 7L garden sprayers, put about 1/4 truckwash(CT18 is VERY GOOD) and fill with water.Spray it liberally all over the cold motor(I also do the whole car anywhere its needed) leave overnite then all rinses off like new with a normal hose.

have a read of the label on ct18, i think it says it is not recommended for aluminium, that's why we don't use it on aircraft,
and if you spray it with a wash down gun, the vapour kills your lungs.

    hmmmm pressure washes & V8's don't mix IMO !

I wrote off my electronic ignition unit using one and yes I sprayed it with wd40 first and coverd it with a plastic bag !

Steer clear of your electrics / electronics

bugger looking at the wrong post you have a TD5, do you even have to worry about water with one of those??
