    TDi: manual Vs auto

    Hi Peoples,
I've written off getting a fender for now as no bugger sells them and no one wants my V8/LPG beast..for more than a bag of chips, anyway!
I'm thinking of trading for a similar disco ('96-'97) TDi as a compromise and wondered what you all could advise re. transmission; I've not as yet driven a diesel disco so have no experience.
Driving habits are occasional city (ride my pushy to work) and off road whenever possible. I love my car but the range really sucks..

    Ta!

Go drive an auto tdi, great to drive and so easy about town. I went from a fairly grunty V8 auto rangie to my disco and havent regretted it at all and i like only filling up every 3 weeks !

Do you want some links to some Defenders for sale?

Are you strictly a buy from a dealer sort of person or will you buy private?
    Cheers

    Hi Mick,
I'd been thinking of dealers because I can't buy without selling my current disco. Saying that though, links would be good to keep an eye on what's up for grabs..

I think you will find that for the final cost of trading your Disco on a Defender would be similar to if you bought a Defender privately and kept your Disco. Then you could sell your Disco privately and recoup even more money.

Even if you sold your Disco for a low price to move it quickly and bought privately you would be way ahead of buying from a dealer. Plus it gives you a greater choice of Defenders for sale.

I think this is pretty much true for changing over any make of car.

    I totally agree with utemad.

Buy privately if you're buying after warranty/secondhand cars. It's the only way. Dealers are just that.......STEALERS!
