I'd go 130 but I'm very bias, or sell the 110 and convert the rangie to deul cab. I've have never seen that before.

I think that they are so close they are almost inseperable and what you will prefer will come down to what your plans are for it. if you need the loadspace then the 130 is the shot, if you need the extra cross country abilty for tighter tracks/ rocky stuff you want the 110 or even a 90.( and even then its marginal....)

Ive mentioned it before and its been critisized (and rightly so as it comes down to personal preference again) but i think the 110 is better with a trailer than the 130.

Both similar. If I had it over again i would wait and get a 130, mainly for load room and the ability to put a bike or buggy on the back. Air con will work much better as a smaller area to cool in a 130. I would get a custom made tray with an under tray roller drawer, under tray mounted tool boxes and water tanks (you can get two of each in) and probablly a custom canopy wide enough for the engle to slide in at the rear of the cab without impinging on tray space too much that would come up to roof level, mesh above engel to put bags etc.

I concur the 130 is great for long distance travel and carries a far greater load.Mine is a tray back with canopy/overhead rack, but ive seen some great 130s with trade mate type fully sealed boxes on the back and they look the ducks nuts. Not for day to day city trafic though.

    I would go the 130.

I have done extensive towing with both and the 130 was much more comfy (as much as it can be as it is still a defa) and the extra separated load area is great and huge.

Off road, I didnt notice that much difference but when I was away with Ray a little while ago I saw what all the comments were about with tight situations can be a little bit of a pain but it wasnt that much of a big deal, just a 3 point turn where I made it around in the disco no worries.

The ride in the 130 is much smoother than the 110 when you have a load but not much different when empty and the 300TDI one I was driving felt underpowered but that could be rectified with some pump tweaks or buy the TD5.

I have seen a photo of a classic rangie body on a 130 chassis, a mate of Jamie (allranges 4wd) had it on his phone, he took it as he knows I want to do it with a Disco 1.

    Good luck with your research.

The 'cut in' and larger turning circle took some getting used to. The length didn't seem to worry the ramp over as the fender has more ground clearance (the wife keeps reminding me to get side steps!).
I did get side steps. didn't help that much or so I'm told.

Well get the photo and POST it for gawd's sake !!!!

How does a Classic Rangie (100" wheelbase or even an LSE 108" wheelbase) fit on a 130 chassis ?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

    My 1c (AULRO discount)

When I was looking for my landy I evaluated the 110 wagon, hardtop, ute and 130 (as well at patrols and cruisers). I ended up with a 110 2 door.

I tend to carry a lot of gear from time to time, so I that ruled the 90 out for me.

You might think that in that case, the 130 would be perfect. Well, no... the loads I carry tend to be quite long.

The problem I had with the 130 (which wouldn't be a problem for most others) is the same problem I always have with dual cab utes, which is that while the wheel base is long, and the volume is fantastic, but its in two separate areas, which doesn't work when you have longer loads that can't go on the roof.

When I went car shopping I grabbed one of my paddles, used it to measure the back of every vehicle I looked at. And for me, as someone who frequently carries longer loads, but no passengers, the 110 worked out best. It wasnt just a matter of capacity, it was a matter of how usable that capacity was for the types of stuff I carry.

Finding a 2 door hardtop was just a bonus. :-)

Typical load: 4 to 6 boats on roof, 4 to 6 paddles, helmets, PFD's and other gears. Spare towels, thermals, blankets, hot water, food, 4 to 8 water polo balls and a goal frame. Plus the normal tools and spares for the landy, plus the swag that tends to live in there, and so on.

Or, if its just me, its damn nice to be able to just sling all my crap in the back and go, not having to worry about tying down, things being stolen etc. :-)

The only thing that bugs me is the door being so much narrower than the load space. Its not often an issue, but it annoys they hell out of me when it is. Thats one advantage the utes have (no clarkie, I'm no converting yet :-) )

Dunno if this helps, but hey, its only electrons :-)

Dave - 110 with no passengers, and lovin it :-)

I use a 130 for the Fire Brigade and its turning circle is woeful when negotiating tight tracks.
I am not convinced of its towing prowess either as ours seems to suffer badly with turbolag when gear changing. Holds high speeds well but has a habit of drifting in the rear end with the traiker behind.
    The fuel economy is excellent.

    I have had a 200tdi 110 Single Cab ute , two 300tdi 110 wagons and now have a 130 Dual Cab ute.

I have only had the 130 for a couple of months but my vote goes for the 130. Same passenger room, better ride than the 110 and the versatility of a ute.
