Question 2000 Disco, what to pay?

    Hi all

Looking at purchasing a 2000 MY00.5 7st Discovery (V8 auto). It has 79k on the clock and looks in vgc. Dealer is asking $23k, could get them down a grand or two. Is $21k a good price? Or am I paying to much?

Is there anything that I should look out for on this model?

    Thanks

Well last month I was looking at a 2000 ES V8 with about the same Ks. The dealer wanted $19,990.

That price is more akin to a TD5 price.

If it's in good nick, visually and mechanically, I would have thought $20 - $21k would be about right

    Price

I just checked Red Book pricing. Based on 110-180,000k's, trade in price $10,600-$12,400, private sale $13,800-$17,200. Of course, with oil prices going back up, this will probably change

Prices vary greatly from state to state, QLD is the cheapest state for vehicles, which is why so many end up down here in Vic.

I paid $20k for my 2000 ES V8 with ACE, private sale, with 108,000 kms (November last year)

    So looks good to me

When I bought my Disco privately 7 months ago I looked in Qld, NSW/ACT and Vic.
The Disco's at least were far more common and much cheaper in NSW/ACT and Vic than in Qld. Ended up buying one in Engadine NSW. Flew down and drove it back to Brisbane.

It's my impression that Landies go for a little more up here in Qld than they do down south. Maybe it's just that I pay too much for mine!

Are you ever going to finish the 2.8 conversion into the P38?

    nope I'm giving up
my mate (the mechanic involved, always has another excuse, mostly paying customers )
I had a big "dig" at him last weekend and he told me he'd have the V8 back in it by end next week
so if anyone wants to buy a 2.8 ? and / or all the adaptors to put a 2.8 or a 300 tdi up to a P38 V8 trans I've got it all for sale (and P38 - Hs2.8 engine mounts)
the machined parts cost me a small fortune happy to get half back
