I think that was probably a bit harsh
However I did fail to mention that as well as ordering the mini 9 months in advance and getting one of the first Cooper S's in the country, throughout our ownership of the car it was dogged with problems that just weren't there in cars that were 12 months newer.
Having said that, I don't think the new fender is anywhere close to the same risk as it's still the same car that they have been building for a while nowIt's only a engine/gearbox and dash change.
The MINI was a brand new design (very few cars are really truly clean sheet like the MINI), in a brand new factory, built by a brand new workforce, managed by brand new management, with components from brand new suppliers. Oh and owned by BMW who are renowned (I know now) for problematic early builds. No wonder it was the biggest automotive f****up I've ever been involved with. I bloody drove well though (cry)
