I still maintain that imported LRs were not speccd for the strong, hot Australian sunlight or they may have lasted longer.
Shirley, the adhesives & padding materials were available in '94 that resisted heat & UV in Oz.
Did they simply use the same ones as used on Home Market vehicles? It's not as though LR didn't have previous experience with our conditions since 1949.

I agree / understand what you are saying but as mine is about 25 years old I can't complain too much

Aaahhh right.
Probably stuck down with animal protein Old Brown Glue & Daylight Saving/hole in the Ozone would account for the excess sunlight then.
