    Rats keep there home

Just seen on the ABC that the Rats of Tobruk in Vic have sold there building. Les Gibbens the trucking magnet has bought it, and allowed the ROTA to stay.

Now that's a good story.....Good on him...and good on the Rats

Nice to hear that someone is still looking after our vets.

My grandfather was a Rat of Tobruk, got himself the Silver Star while there, mainly for night patrols behind enemy lines and other feats he wouldn't talk about much. God rest his soul.

The Peter Fitsimmons Tobruk book is a good read.

I saw the story on that last night yesterday afternoon and it was quite interesting. I am glad that that is the out come as some of the members would not have faired so well if they did not have the club to continue to go to and work. Like the lunch ladies diggers wifes from the day and others. Im sure that place is what keeps some of them going.

Its a small world, they did an amazing job.

My grandfather went from there to New Guinea and I think was then part of the occupation force in Japan. They certainly earned their place in history and all that we can give back to them.
