Hi,
Just picked a new Disco 3 SE. Some stupid questions, but here goes:
The owner's handbook appears to cover the whole range, not just the SE. How do you tell what's in the SE and what's not? The brochure and website don't help.
ie:
Side mirrors - P113 talks about folding the mirrors. I've got electric mirrors but they don't seem to fold electrically.
Trip computer - I can only get the basic functions of range, av fuel, av speed and outside temp. P115 talks about an over speed alarm but I can't see it.
Trip computer again - P116 talks about personalised settings which I can't access. The second paragraph mentions the "I" button (as opposed to the "i" button) but I'm buggered if I can get it to work.
...or are these HSE features?
Cheers,
Mark

Mirrors.... The toggle switch that selects L or R - If you push it down, it'll fold the mirrors.
The "i" button is on the end of your indicator stalk. Keep pressing it until the display on the dash says "Settings". Once on settings, look at the display and it'll indicate that you need to press one of the controls on the steering wheel to get in (Fast forward / scan forwards IIRC), press the switch and you'll be into the additional settings. Once in, you can cycle through the options by pressing the "i" button again.
This is where the personal settings are and it's also where you'll find the overspeed alarm.

Does your car have the audio controls on the steering wheel? You have to have those to access the menus and adjust the settings. I know they are standard on HSE but not on SE.
I feel your pain - not - says I green with envy noting that I can only dream about having problems working my way through a D3 handbook.
As I said - I can feel your pain as I am having trouble working through the handbook of my new mobile phone - having similar issues

Firstly, the folding mirrors are not available for Aust spec cars. Annoying, i know, but LR in their infinite wisdom decided to leave them off our cars.
If you haven't got Hi-Ice or Premium ICE, you can't access the all the trip meter functions. However, you can get the dealer to set your preferences (ie mpg, l/100km or km/l) via the testbook.
The "i" button is on the left hand stalk. if it doesn't change things, then ask the dealer at the next service.
Unfortunately the handbook is generic and there are things in there that not all vehicles get. They didn't specify se, HSE etc in the book because one country's HSE is another country's SE.
Any other queries, post awayand we'll be happy to answer them!.

For the life of me, I don’t know why, in this day and age of info technology and after spending so much time and money developing such an advanced vehicle, why are the many new features of this vehicle kept so secret.
A simple inclusion of a DVD would resolve this owner information requirement.
I learnt more about my RR from a dealer made video, made in the USA than I could sort out from the owner’s manual.
Just my 2c worth.

Thanks All.
A phone call to the salesman has enlightened me (and him)!
No, folding mirrors is not an Australian option.
Personalised settings? We'll it seems you have to have the steering wheel mounted audio controls option fitted for this to work because you use these controls to navigate through the menu. I did get this as a freebie on the car when they were trying to sweeten the deal but they (mistakenly?) neglected to reprogram (and that's all it is) the computer to give me access. Apparently they'll fix this next week if I drop in for 5 minutes.
I shouldn't be so cynical but I doubt they ever intended to give it to me but now can't admit it!
There's a thought for Disco owners. The manual is so vague you could take the line that it implies certain things are standard and wangle a better deal!
Cheers,
Mark
