Have a look in Projects and Tutorials. There are a number of photos of fitments in there, including mine. Incidentally I was able to fit another battery (N70Z) alongside existing standard battery.

OK, I'm faced with a bit of a dilemma. Most dual battery setups I've seen have two stuffed "crossways" in the passenger seat box. Now, my TDi has a nearly new, physically very long, HD battery in there, meaning there's no way I can fit a second, and that I'd ideally want to keep the existing one as the main starter battery and just add a deep cycle one for the fridge and lights and stuff.
So, should I just stump up for two new batteries (And having just got a quote for two Optimas, this is a scary option!) that fit, or should I look to use a sealed unit on its side in the driver seat box (If it will fit) and run all the aux wiring (Which I thankfully haven't done yet) to there?
What is everyone else doing, and am I missing a third and simpler/cheaper option?

Ah, cheers...seems I'm not the only one who thinks it's a tight fit!![]()
Must confess, when I measured I was a bit nervous about going across the tray due to the height the terminals would be at compared tothe metal lid, but it seems other have done this with no issue, and they probably do far more bouncing around than me, so looks like that's the way to go.
Just wish I'd put a pair of Optima's in the container when I moved here. $350-$400 each.![]()
