Had our "IM perfect cant do no wrong" leading hand put the roller over the side of the road today,my ribs are still sore from laughing,it was so close to turning turtle GOT TO GET A CAMERA PHONE!!!!
Trouble was I had just trimmed the road off,I was finished, the grader chewed all my good work up getting the thing back on the road.
The boss turned up with his missus just at the rite time
    SHE HAD A CAMERA PHONE
The angle was so great the roller stopped running,it had 1/2 tank of fuel but still drew air ,had to fuel it up and prime it
Will see if I can get some pics.

Not quite right. Yes the construction boys work long hours, normally 10hr days 6 day weeks, for up to 13weeks at a time. A lot only work the duration of the project and then have several months off. Most of us for BHP are working 7 on 7 off and most of us are on packages between 90k & 110k. Not bad for working half the year and is only going to go up. A grader driver with some experience my start off around $90k. 13hr days are not quite legal anymore (but some still do), most are max 12hrs without an exemption. You can work cnstruction for higher pay, but longer hours and rotations or lower pay in general permanent mining for lifestyle but still well paid. All in all the hourly rate is similar.

They also get $160 week if they dont go on strike or take industrial action and its paid as lum sum at end of employment on site.

They also get $50 week severance redundancy pay which is paid at end of employment on site.

Goldfields Mines around Kalgoolie get paid less and always have and will then Iron Ore MInes

Projects in the South West get roughly what North West mine boys do, but overall paid slightly less as south west deemed to have livng attractions compared to North West heat and flies.

Plenty of jobs in mining construction work for the next 7 years on the projects announced as going ahead
