haha, yeh ill agree awesome pics... but your vechiles look like monsters compaired to my unmodified disco... not to mention looks like you have far more agressive tyres (im running some form of michelen tyres - ltx maybe cant remember...) should be interesting... does anyone know about the road closeure up at zig zag cause its "private property" is it open or not? this is an article on it:

Despite the tyres and lift you'll still be fine and it's not really a tyre sensitive area. Lithgow is more about suspension than anything else with a lot of uneven ground/tracks. Awsome to drive and still pretty safe. You can usually stay out of the mud - there wasn't much out there last time I was there.

Also if they have blocked off the zigzag entry, then you can go around through Lithgow and directly onto the track that heads to Bungleboori campground. It just takes longer if you're coming from the east.

Don't think there has been enough rain to make it as good (or bad) as it can get. You should have a run down into Wolgan Valley (Newnes for the non locals) there are some awesome sights & country if ya have heaps of time, Glow worm tunnels are great as well.

If ya serious about some good time there & your around at x-mas I will post up when we get home & do 2 day tour if anyone wants.

IMHO, before you head to such areas, you should as a priority, ensure that you have adequate recovery points front and rear. The stock tie down points are not adequate for vehicle recovery. A rear tow bar is usually suitable for rear recovery as snatch straps can be connected to the hitch receiver (just make sure you carry the correct pin.

Next priority should be to acquire minimum recovery gear of snatch strap and rated bow shackles.

yeh, ive got an TJM Ox recovery pack including: snatch strap, 3 x 4.7t shackles, winch extension strap and then also snatch block, and tree trunk protector and cable dampener. i also have a compressor and one of those speical inserts that slip into the back of your tow bar socket which has an eye for a shackle. so rear recovery point is sorted.

the front needs to be double anchored off my bullbar (its one of the bullbars that came originally with the disco - has an eye on each side in line with the bullbars connection to the chasie(not sure how to spell it))
i know this is bad practice but the guys at tjm said that it should surfice if i use both eyes and anchor from the middle to spread the force evenly between each of the eyes.

i think id rather just use the rear towbar point...

Hey Bush, the area really aint that bad mate, everyone seems to think it's hell on earth for some reason, truth is it's just the winters there that are scary ( & some of the locals..... )
