Canning Stock Route
Wasn't sure where to put this, but anyway....
We (wife + 1) are in the initial stages of planning a trip along the southern section of the CSR to the Gary Junction and back East to Alice Springs. Most likely aiming for July 2008 - sometime away, but requires good planning.
Our vehcile is well set up for extended travel and we have done the Simpson a couple of times, one solo. My understanding is the CSR is not necessarily 'harder' than the Simpson, just longer. Whilst acknowledging the risks asscoicated with remote area solo travel, we feel that with solid planning and an understanding of the risks than all should go well.
I'm interested to hear feedback on your CSR experiences and from those who have done it solo.
Thanks,

As Dinty said, check the thread about closures.
Done a fair bit of remote area, solo, in a 2wd with an LSD, but not the CSR.
Took way too much gear (for emergencies) but I did need some stuff, like spare tyres and the hi lift jack, an alternator, another battery, brake fluid...and the 100 litres of water onboard was only just enough. Have fun with your trip.
