    What a great day

Today, being Wednesday (mid week), I decided to go for a country drive in the Defender (followed by a friend in a new Pajero).

    6am start in Bayswater

Warburton - Reefton Spur - Woods Point Rd to Matlock - Walhalla Rd to Selma Tk - what ever turns to Licola for morning tea.

Followed the Heyfield Rd to Hickey Ck Tk - drove along to the Avon Wilderness and turned off down Ben Crauchen Tk. Due to an error on my part I thought this was the track that went through Ben Crauchen with 20 river crossings (I should have proceeded to De Moulin Tk, but as I later discovered that track was still closed post the fires).

The Ben Crauchen Tk had several major detours put in to go around the freehold land in the middle. The detours are quite steep. Eventually we made it to Huggets Crossing for a late-ish lunch, then through to Traralgon and back home.

530km for the day. It was great to see the landscape after the fires, the ground in some places still looks scorched, although the parched trees have a green velvet cover on them.

It was a perfect day for a drive and post fires it adds a new perspective to the landscape.
