I don't own an HSV (or an FPV or WRX, etc) to know how they are wired but have seen plenty with the fog lights switched off, or perhaps disconnected?
These lights have unfortunately become so commonplace that we are now seeing the boy racers using the small spot lights from supercheap etc which have such bad light patterns that they are of no use on the street (maybe good for slow speed rock lights that's about all) and are seemingly impervious to the law.

Blokes in my areas call the roof top lights ****** lights... you get embarressed if you mates see you doing it but the outcum is still good......
We call the low set stuff yuppie lights 'cause they look pretty,, cost too much and are useless.:p

Mind you On my SD1 rover the yuppie lights were good. They provided a low wattage, wide and low spread that was perfect for low speed pea soup fog driving, which is what they are designed for. As a consequence the lights also provided a good close range and wide spread for highway driving. these rover fog lights didn't glare oncoming drivers just provided good light. Most the euro stuff has always been good for it:angel:. the problem has only started when some lesser marques have started fitting fog lights that out perform most driving lights for replecating the sun. The other lights that Hyundai and similar cars should be shot for, are the rear fog lights again these dont seem to have a target beam they just spread super bright light in all directions, really distracting on a crisp clear night.:twisted:

The few times I have had to cope with heavy fog, I found Hibeam worked better because it picked out the reflectors on the guide posts much better. (This was at less than 20kph)

Sheesh. Highbeam in fog? The first thing I did with each new purchase for about 10 years was fit fog lights. Even tried it on my motorbike. Back then (when precipitation was common in Queensland) there were regular pea-soup fogs in Toowoomba and a good fog light was a necessity. High-beams scatter too much light high up. You need low-down light in fog so you're not blinded by the reflection. Low beams, clear fog lights, yellow, whatever, but low down.

and thats the only way I could go forward was to drive on the roadside reflectors,,

If I lived in Toowoomba,, I would probably buy fog lights too:D

Must admit had a flick through but couldn't decipher anything to do with spotlights... driving lights, fog lights, licence plate lights, little **** markers that trucks and hummers use to show how wide they are YES... but missed the bits for spotties... someone please let me know what they are called if you find it.
