Yep this might mean there is an easing of the water shortage. I even saw a paddock with puddles today.

Just before dark I had measured a total of 48.5mm, and there was a little bit after that. this morning my next door neighbour could not get out to the road, the creek she has to cross was up. I didn't try, but did observe that the creek I have to cross was up, would have been to about the top of the mudguards. I went into the village this afternoon to get my mail, it was only about hub deep, will only be a trickle by tomorrow. There has been very little runoff - it mostly just soaked in, but I'll go round and have a look at the dams tomorrow.

we ended up with 35mm yesterday. Very nice. The little river I have to cross to get in and out of here was up only an inch or so, but the river our new place is on will need 8-10" at a guess at the head of the river to get it flowing again. only about 12km upstream) We had a 4' hole dug at Christmas where we pump out of, but that's near gone. There are a few horse studs up stream of us, including one of the biggest, and a small town of 800 who's reservoir has been topped up by a hole in the river. This has dropped nearly 8' below the river bed in the last twelve months !
Level 5 restrictions will apply in town soon, regardless of the 5" or so that's fallen in the catchment in the last three months, which is still well below average. It's just all soaking in.
