    A Kiwi S3 Landy, but I've never seen one like this

    It may even be based on a IIa by the looks of it. Weird one though - perhaps a panel shop apprentice owned it.

    Possible prison transport or armoured car. The red cross vehicles also had their own body work due to a longer body to carry strechers, but no where near as ugly as that thing! He's been trying to sell it for months.

    Series 2a by the grille and hinges, but the body is a custom one. I seem to remember seeing a picture of something similar to this as an ambulance in the UK. Ah! Found it - James Taylor "The Land Rover Story" p122. Not the same vehicle, but close enough to suggest it is something very similar - same one piece windscreen and flat doors with modified bulkhead. This could be a later body from the same manufacturer (Herbert Lomas) as the one in Taylor is an earlier 2a with the narrow set headlights.
