Dafinitive proof I love it
I bought my Stage 1 to "replace" a Subaru Forester. It came in at the same width, same weight and the extra length was just the tyre hanging on the back. Twice the seating capacity :eek2: and the same power from eight cylinders as the Subaru had from 4.
The issue the Defender will face in the future is the "aggresivity" (I think they call it) - the degree of damage it inflicts on another vehicle or on a pedestrian. The insurers will make sure the next shape is less likely to dent things.
My 90 is almost the same length as a new mini. :eek:Quote:
You often hear people moaning that 4x4s take up too much parking space
I had a 4 cylinder magna TR (93-96) wagon and I would say I get the same if not better fuel economy out of my P38 Rangie, and the rangie is easier to park.
My wife had a Laser in 1995 bought mint condition, with just 20,000ks on the clock (and tuned), 1992 build 1600ccs and a carby, damn thing never did better than 25mpg.... which is less than what the Futura is doing. (and she's no leadfoot).
D1 diesels of the time were well known for 33mpg......

There is not 1 complaint that the anti 4wd lobby puts out that cant be argued with rational debate and prooven false, but there are more of them that complain so they are heard.
No matter what any of us say here, it is not heard by the general public which generaly dont think passed their front door (so to speak).
Im not meaning to sound condesending to anyone but I have seen people completely turned around after being one eyed on a subject (not just 4wd's) just by talking to someone in the know who says the right things, the right way or shows them something that prooves their opinion to be wrong.
So what im trying to say is maybe we should gather all this evidence and send it to one of these rediculas current affairs shows and put them to use for us 4wd owners rather than just letting them and the papers bash us with no right of reply offered.
My fuel economy in the 300 tdi has actually gone worse around town since tweeking the pump. may be because my right foot is slightly heavier .
so if my 4x4 inflicts more damage to pedestrians and other vehicles on the Road , should trucks be banned altogether , imagine the damage they would inflict on me and others god forbid someone was hit by one of them.:(
When I was doing psychology at uni they called it 'groupthink'. aka the herd mentality.....
We have people around here who have an issue with large trucks, the ones with two trailers - they're loud and noticed and they call them..
bee dubble youse
(say it)
they dont even know the name of what they're whinging about
and now they're whining about 'b tripplz' or 'double bee dubble youse'
loud and ignorant, but heard....
annoyingly
a single
b double
c triple
how can they be so ignorant? of the issue so passionate to them?
Never hear a peep about the c triples Ford use to run from Geelong to Broadmeadows....
