Ignorence, stupidity and too much time on their hands IMHO.
Complaining about the things that provide everything that we all use and take for granted is one of the stupidest things I can imagine. Imagine how it would be if we went back to the time where everything was transported by rigid trucks, 6 times as many smaller trucks on the road than there is AB&C combination trucks.
From what I know (not much!), an A trailer has the standard type of turntable coupling, therefore an A double requires a dolly (extra trailer with a turntable on top and a ringfeder coupling on the drawbar) between trailers. A B double has a turntable mounted on the front trailer, therefore no dolly is required. A B triple consists of a B double with an extra A trailer (one dolly). An A triple requires two dollies (between the 1-2 and 2-3 trailers. We even get quads here, being a B double with two A trailers as well.
I was more refering to these stupid people not anyone on here as if your on here you are more likely to cop the same attitude from stupid people with no experience or insite into why the trucks and 4wd's are on the road.
The only drivers I dont like is the ones that dont bother with indicating, drive with the left foot sitting on the brake pedal, heating up their brakes and keeping their brake lights on so they may as well not have any and the ones that think that they are the only ones on the road that dont look, dont concentrate and dont care about laws and speed limits (too excess).
Oh and the hoons that live across the road who dont think of anyone else but them selves.
An dont forget the environmental benefit of using a 4wd... remember the Hum Vee against Prius Argument? (sure it was posted on here)
The Hum Vee was MORE environmentally friendly due to the simplicity, longevity and the fact the Prius uses components that have a large impact on the environment (ie batteries),
the prius generally wont last as long as a 4wd, and the energy costs of making a car are not small... if i remember correctly they far outweigh the use of a car.. feel free to expand on this ... or correct me :)
Thanks
Steve
You know I'm beginning to suspect that Prius vs 4WD is an urban myth. I've read about it compared to Hummer (USA), Dodge (USA), GMC (USA), Range Rover (UK), Defender (UK), Land Cruiser (Aus).
Someone's using some editorial license because those US vehicles use gallons per mile and also every story was the same, just the marque was changed!
This is the actual CNW Report and it is a well researched and very comprehensive collection of data.

The $cost per mile is NOT a running cost rather it is a dust to dust CO2 pollution figure shown as a cost for evaluation purposes. If you are interested read the report and you will understand. This link also shows the Prius phenomenon in more detail.
The message is loud and clear:
i) If you want to attack vehicles on their D2D (dust to dust) CO2 production then Land Rover 4wd's are well down the list.
ii) While hybrids are less polluting in operation their TOTAL CO2 production is extremely high.........higher than Land Rovers. Remember that these LR figures are for petrol variants only (USA Market )and the diesels would be a lot better.
PS My Tdv6 2.7d RRS will not give less than 30mpg with me driving.
Back to the trucks.... The A trailer is the front trailer of a b double. It has the std pin at the front and a turntable at the rear, usually with 1/2-2/3 the pallet spaces of the b trailer, a std 40-45' trailer with std pin at front.
A road train usually has the std trailer at the front with dollys then attached to the rear of each trailer. These have the turntable on them to accept the pin of the next trailer.
