Bullsh!t!!! I actually use my four wheel drive off road as it was designed to be, & Who gives a rats bottom about space, it's the damage they do to Pedestrians & users of other vehicles thats the problem. As our 4wd loving Dr Karl says as well it's also an issue with others not being able to see more than one car (due to height). I also own a bike & would rather be hit by a small sedan that a tank with a bullbar....
We are lucky to own fourbys that are quite nice on the road as well, but it's only the upgraded "Volvo driving soccer mum" that really doesn't need a Landcruiser (eg) to be constantly on tar, what a waste of a wonderful vehicle.
i personally think people should be able to drive what ever car they like and should not be dictated by others just because of there beliefs so what if you want to drive a 4wd in the city so what if you want to drive a crapped out car on an outback road that would probably shake apart with in the first k, why cant people buy 4wd's and not take them off road could it possibly be that they buy them for a feel safe factor isn't that what the d3 got an award for.............
