What would life be without a Rangie?
look for the G4 web site it usually has a link from the main landrover web site once they are looking for new entrants, i have entered a couple of times then realised they want super fit people and not some one who wants a go in there nice orange cars. damn
I think they get something like 100,000 people applying. Bribery sounds the way to go!
eitherway participating in the prelim rounds would be fun even if you dont get in

I got into the prelims for the 2006 event but couldn't attend due to short notice, work commitments and the fact that it was held in Victoria (no way I'm traveling to that dump ;o)
I was selected based on my application. I had competed in a number of adventure races which is basically what the G4 is all about. I doubt Land Rover knowledge will get you far. They also ask you to send in a full length photo to determine if you are "media worthy". The information pack I received for the weekend included a number of individual and team tasks, mostly related to orienteering, running, kayaking and team building tasks. You even had to do a few interviews infront of the cameras.
There was only 43 participants at the weekend, I suspect they don't get a thousands of applications as they do require a high level of fitness. If you have done some adventure racing before you should get a look at the prelims. Beware though, AU's top AR athletes normally have a crack like Tom Landon Smith, Alina McMaster, Guy Andrews and John Jacoby.
Studio54, if you are keen to get into adventure racing have a look at the sleepmonsters.com.au website, the calendar is full of events from 6hr races through to expedition length stuff. To give you some inspiration .. I'm doing the following race in August www.xpd.com.au

Thanks Grey Landy,
I had heard that ex Ironmen enter it etc. I don't exactly have the cash to go around the world doing extreme sports, but Id gladly try my hand at the media, fitness, 4WDing and team work skills required to do it all with someone elses cash....and Defender.![]()
Jeff last time around they had Rangies!!!!
Im sure with all your outdoor pursuits you engage in you would get shortlisted at least.
Try a Google on G4 for a start.
