Hi Craig
What about a cut/shut on a D3?????
Surely they are doing them in UK by now????
Andrew
Anyone tried buying a 4x4 ambulance lately that meets mine site requirements?? Not much out there, The Toyotas do not have airbags so are out, Merc only has 2wd at the moment at around $180k, 4x4 due out at end of year but still do not think it will cut it in a pit and will probablly be around $200k. Ford do not import the 250 or 350 anymore so about $250 to get one of these ($117k to import cab ute). Nissan not viable as an ambo as will not meet GVM.
Same for a light tanker Toyota out as no airbag, Nissan only viable alternative. Nissan dropping the 4.2 litre in favour of a 3.0 litre 4 cyl line up only.
Anyone got a series ambo they can chuck an air bag in for me??

how about the mines getting real on what they want and what is acheivable, like why do they want airbags?
pushing two plus tons fast is going to hurt anyone when it stops against a haulpak. airbags don't stop tin.
have you tried mack for their ambo?
actually international have a little truck that would be the ducks guts if you could get the mines mind around the dollars, and convert it to ambo specs, you might have seen it advertised as a big 4wd.
unfortunatly all the ambo conversions of all the popular models are way up close to max weight without staff and patients, so they are dangerous dogs to start with, high center of gravity, narrow track, overweight, and not capable of travelling the mine roads at speed.
if i was in the mines and wanted to have a decent rescue vehicle it would be big, when the big vehicles are used to do light work they can be geared to perform and have the weight to be safe.
what's the offer?....![]()
Have you seen the Armys Mishabishi Canter ambos, 4X4 single cab with the same ambo body as the 6X6 Prentie ambo. Dunno about the air bags.
Mitsi Cancers are crud,we have a crew cab at work, hate riding in it hate driving it,rough as guts!!!!!

What about a Unimog? Do they have airbags in the EU?
Or what about a US style monstrosity, I'm sure they come with 4x4 transmission.
Or this UK model perhaps.
Here we go :
Yup, grab a D3 commercial van, and make it an ambo. What a ripper that would be (or is by the pic above)
