Change the t-case oil and check for metal particles or anything out of the ordinary.

Other than that, see if there is a noticeable difference in play in the CDL.

Shouldn't really have done any harm unless it was loaded very heavily and driving around lots of tight turns on bitumen.

yep change the oil in the transfer case and I would look at doing the diffs as well and grease the drive shafts if possible

And after checking everything is in good order, ask yourself who needs enemies with friends like this ....
I hope you gave him a good telling off because this amounts to abuse if you ask me. Not using the vehicle as intended.

I can't really see any reason to change the transfer case oil, it hasn't done any extra work, it's the front and rear diffs, half shafts and CV's that have done all the hard work.

the transfer case is also under load, when I was working in alexandra years ago we had isuzu 4x4 trucks that would be used as snow ploughs the transfer case oil would get very hot and the smell would just about make you throw up it was that bad, then we switched to synthetic oil

I lent my sister a car once and she rolled it, but because she had originally given me the car which at the time had a blown up engine and was in pieces and the only thing that was worth anything was the rego, she decided that it wasnt fair for me to ask her to pay for it.

Then again, a mate borrowed a car off me once for a court appearence and needed a 4 seater and he only had a ute, he hit a wombat and it totaled the Cortina.

I wasnt concerned about the car as long as everyone was ok as it was a straight up accident but 2 weeks later he gave me another one that was better than the first.

Coincedently, He ended up T boning me when a bodgy mechanic didnt do a bolt up in the lower wishbone and he was followung me down a dirt road when the front dropped and as the dust was pretty bad about 10 seconds after I stopped he hit the side of me.

Wrote off both cars, so I got away from Cortinas.

Best not to lend cars to people unless you know they arent going to drive it as hard or harder than yourself e.g.Mum, Dad or grandma are ok but not the P plater apprentice.

I think we are talking about transmission wind-up from use of the diff lock on a hard surface, it's a bit different from dragging a heavy load for hours.

you would find that the transfer case is under load as well not so bad if the tyres are the same dia it is a wonder he could'nt feel it on the corners, mine failed to disconnect once the light went off but it was still engaged the first tight corner on tar could not miss it,it just did not feel right or nice had to crawl under to fix the problem
