[QUOTE=Ralph;541697]Here are a couple of pici's from The Otways. I was leading a trip at the recent Otway Antics held by the Geelong 4WD Club. This was on the Deppelers Creek Rd.
I have done Depplers track in my Series 3, nothing special only steeltreks. I ended up getting snatched twice and towed for about 400 mts towards the end :).
While I note the comments regarding the enviroment, this is an open track.
I'm a folder :toilet:
Dave,
Are you upset because a Toyota recovered you????
Or is it because your Standard Defender is far more capable than what you are prepared to do????
I find your comments an attack and not a Constructive criticism
I think the point here is that the pics were posted for those who would be interested to look at them...if you didnt agree with them then there is no need to comment as your comments would only like inflame things and get peoples backs up.
This is a public forum and everyone will have different opinions. The forum is not here so people can get up on there soap boxes and preach. By all means make an informed comment but please be mindful of the language you choose to use.
My opinion is that if the track is an open track then it can be used. That sort of damage should be expected by the park managers if the track is to be left open. Public land is increasingly under pressure to manage a diverse range of interests....and one of them is to tackle challenging track like that in those conditions. It would be of course a different situation if they driving was dont illegally...but it wasnt.
My 2 cents...

Would it be too much to ask that this thread be locked, or no further posts here?
It started as a trip report, it's touched a raw nerve, but I for one feel it's had enough of an airing. There is much to be said on both sides, but it's starting to get to mudslinging - unfortunately with words, not off tyres as we'd all prefer.

I agree mate...no point taking it any further.
