its OK provided you`re aware of what you`re doing.Next time u watch a Pro tree lopper start his saw whilst harnessed way up the tree , he wont be trying 2 stik his boot into the handle...........................I :hope:p.
Its when ppl try 2 drop start LARGE saws things can get a little more interesting;)

being somewhat trepidacious about heights I have a simple solution to starting the saw to trim the high branches...

1. Start saw
2. cut tree down
3. restart saw
4. trim branchs as required.

What about the large branches hanging over the roof????????????:o

Im with you Dave but If I cant drop the tree, I call Fish or one of the other guys from the Golf course as I dont climb tree's and their limbs arent as important to me as mine are.

By the way I do normaly start big saws on the ground but I hold it with my hand as Im not flexible enough to play twister with a chain saw.

when the saw wont drop a tree I resort to more expansive devices...

Its usually about then that I take the bar off and put the 3 inch arbour on, drain some fuel out of the tank and grab the bag of fertilizer.........

Yep and has no Muffs, goggles or chaps, using an older style saw with no chain break, leaning over the saw and not to the side while standing in a precarious position where if the saw kicked back then he would fall off the tree followed closely by the saw.

Hope it's an old photo and wasnt taken last weekend lol.
