I have twice come across fallen trees in northern NSW that were too big to either chop through or drive over (one had a 2m diameter trunk!!!). The other one was a bit smaller, but too big for the 18" bar on the saw I had back then. A crazy mate still tried to drive over it, and ended up getting the bullbar wedged when he reversed back off it. We had to cut part of the tree away to get him off...

Sure I could. Just after I put a bunch of smaller trees on either side of it :D

Notch it would be the only way to get through it, you can do that with any size saw just the bigger the saw the quicker you get through.


Just cut it out in sections, it takes a long time and uses a lot of fuel as there is a lot of ripping but if you were stuck and had to go that way, or drop some smaller trees along side it and stack rocks and stuff.

Air force now...

I dont even bother getting out I have 2 much better options..

1. call in a chopper lift...

2. air strike/close air support...

and most places dont get upset if you happen to have a bag of fertilizer in the back of your deefer, the claymores strapped to the bull bar for "tree control" tends to raise a few eyebrows...

There's a good point, we often get strange looks when we order 2 or 3 tonnes of fertalizer specially nitrogen.

The Army makes you do a chainsaw cse before operating them as everything you touch needs a CSE CERT attached....;)
