    Not again?

Coming back from town yesterday a large rock I ran over flipped up with a loud bang. As I found when I stopped to check the creek crossing about half a mile before my front gate, it has knocked a hole in the bottom of my water tank under the sill. I think it may have knocked out the epoxy from last time, but I am waiting for the pool underneath to dry up before investigating.

Steel. Repairing it won't be an enormous job, but to do it will require removing the tank - and that is a bit of a pig of a job - it fits the space very neatly, and needs the step, or at least its stay, removing first and then the driver's floor removing to uncouple the fill and vent hoses.

John once you have fixed it lash out on a sheet of checker plate and cover the bottom of it...
I reversed on a buried star picket recently and it hit my tank protector and saved penetrating my diesel tank all because of a 2.5mm piece of checker plate (aluminum) only gotta save you once to be worth it

I may even patch it by screwing a sheet of checker plate on the bottom! I have a reasonable supply of s/h aluminium checker plate.

I would probably look at replacing the floor of the tank with heavier plate. Cost would be similar or cheaper than the alloy belly plate plus belly plates underneath tanks encourage rocks to get stuck and rub thru, and you are a veteran of gravel roads.

edit. just reread and saw you already have a stock of alloy
