Thread: How do you clean oil drips off a concrete driveway??

This is something Landrover should have in the handbook.

Owners Manual I meant.

I agree with the cement ( or cement/sand or mortar mix ) method.

Just drop a few handfuls of it on to the stain, grind it round a bit with your boot, leave it for a day or two then sweep it away.

you can pick up a bag of cement, or mortar mix from Bunnings for about $7. - make sure it is stored in a dry place otherwise you will just have a rock.

...some people say kitty litter works too ...but never tried it as I don't have a kitty .....

I have heard that brake fluid will lift oil stains from concrete, but I have never tried it.

The only drama with acid washing it is you will have to do the whole driveway, you will have a really clean patch and the rest of the driveway will look like crap if you dont

What I do is soak the oil with petrol, lots of. The petrol and oil then become one.

I then get lots of newspaper and put over the mess. Walk on the paper to push it down hard and leave for a while. The news paper acts like blotting paper and absorbs it all.

I have been doing this for years (30) and it works.

Read somewhere you can make plaster of paris as a thick paste and then let it dry on the oil stain. Is supposed to suck it up out of the concrete and then you pick the solid mass up when it is completely dry.
