Thread: Cherry Venture

Hi All,

I just heard the Cherry Venture wreck on Rainbow Beach QLD has been removed. One report was that the asbestos in the engine room was a hazard - as opposed to a couple of thousand tonnes of rusting metal.?

Any news or photos...or did this happen a while ago and i'm just a late mail specialist?

I remember seeing it in '81 (from an S3 tour vehicle) and it still had the srew fitted and actually looked like a ship , the next time was in '02 sans screw and not a lot left of it. Bit sad really, i think the Maheno on Fraser has stood up a bit better...

the venture had most removed a few years back though so wasn't just erosion eating at her unfortunately
