I wave, My better half waves, my kids wave.. It is genetically passed on to them in the womb....
Wave till you can't wave no more, it is our right and duty as LR owners.
JC
I wave and always but i wonder why. The other day i got snobbed by 3 Discos and a DEFENDER:mad:
The wave happens up here, generally a full hand above the steering wheel. I have seen the same in WA. My ol'man bought a Disco a while back and thought he had joined a club; always welcoming the Landy-wave.:D:D
We had a great time waving at every Landrover between here and Alicesprings and the only one I remember getting back was from a Rangie Sport on the Adelaide Hills.
We returned waves to other travelers in non Landrover vehicals, generally Grey Nomad types but 99% of the other drivers either looked at us like we were strange or completly ignored us.
I find it similar around here, I pulled up next to another 300 tdi disco Lifted and on 33" muddies and flared the other day and gave him the wave and he looked at me like I was a weirdo, so I gave him another and I think he thought I was trying to pick him up lol as he just looked forward and wouldnt look back.
Me and the Mrs were just about wetting our selves laughing.
One thing about the scoring system is that a non-landie vehicle can still score if it's used off-road.
Strange as it may sound, this fits with my experience.
When returning from our honeymoon in our Ex-mil Series III, we tried the "Landie" wave on everyone between Noosa and the highway. The vehicles most likely to return the wave were - modified Toyota Hilux utes, followed by Land Rovers, followed by women in people-movers, followed everyone else. People driving anything lowered did NOT wave :P
It would be interesting to compare the number of returned waves from Discos/ RRs and modified Toyotas over a longer distance. I wonder if the Yota drivers would wave more?
Very little waving goes on in my area. I'm ashamed but I've started to pick the driver before I wave to increase my chances of a returned wave.
Can't blame some of the Mums around here as with the kids, stereo, makeup, mobile etc, they don't have a spare hand to wave ;)
I usually try always with Defenders but feel i get a bit of a 'try hard' LR owner look back.
:spudnikwaving: Ah well, we need to set the trend I suppose :spudnikwaving:
I always wave to Defenders and series vehicles. I watch the disco drivers to see if they wave but have given up on rangies unless they are old and modified. Since I'm driving the ford I have to stop myself from waving.
My kids love to wave or give the thumbs up, even the better half has started to wave, we are a waving family.
I have noticed Series drivers and most Defender drivers wave, except that guy in the 130 on the way to Bendigo yesterday.
Disco people down here dont wave to those in either a Series or Defender that I have noticed, they may only wave to each other.:wasntme:
