Thread: 4WD/Tourist ideas on NSW coast please!

hey mate,

have you seen the coffs coast dvd by 4wd monthly? east coast hot spots vol 8, number 1 it is... at the end of it they go to a place called pebbly beach, and its a damn nice place to go to, i have done a little bit of exploring up there, theres some alrite stuff, their dvd shows some fantastic tracks, way to extreme for my stocker but with a winch or 2 you'd be able to do it.

Pebbly Beach Camping Area (60 sites)

Location: Just north of Station Creek.

Getting there: The campground is at the end of Barcoongere Way. The route includes unpaved roads; 4WD vehicle required.

Fees: $8.00 per adult per night, $4.00 per child per night. Annual pass or daily vehicle entry fee of $7 also required.

There is a small saltwater estuary crossing, on low tide wont even come close cover your axels (although i havn't been there in 2 years). But its an awesome camping spot, wont be too busy this time of year.

South Ballina to Evans Head - on the beach! A great run on the low tide and sure beats a trip down the Pacific Hwy. Currently this 35 k long beach is very wide at the low tide, but this time last year a rocky section about 20 ks south of Ballina was impassable on all but the lowest tides.

Getting on the beach at South Ballina is not too hard and getting off at Evans is very easy. South Ballina is accessible by a large car ferry, head east on Burns Point Ferry Road, one block south of the Big Prawn, which is on the Pac Hwy. If you do it give us a yell, I'll also check the rocks for a clean run, prior. There's a decent caravan park at Evans Head and a crook old pub, perfect! You may have to book a site if you're travelling around Xmas time.
