just to spoil the free speech debate:
Australia does have a right to free speech - it's a common law one - made in 1920 in 'W. & A. McArthur Ltd. v. State of Queensland' (28 CLR 530) as a result of the judgement, which found that without free speech, a whole chunk of the constitution wouldn't work!
so just because it's not in the constitution, doesn't mean it doesn't exist!
As to the cats business - I'm not particularly bothered either way.
