By the way - with Jaguar you can get certificates that provide information on the car eg when it was built, selling dealer, who it was sold too etc - actually is a certificate of authenticity. Does anyone know of any such service that is available for Land Rover vehicles?

    Thanks

    Yep. http://www.lrfaq.org/Series/FAQ.S.Chassis.tracing.html

It costs now and seems difficult, I got info a while ago (years) and it was free.

    G'day Garrycol

The site that Joel Nicolson has given you is for the UK home production vehicles or those built in UK and shipped O/seas as complete vehicles, the CKD vehicles, the heritage centre has no records,as I was trying to trace those records 15 years ago

    cheers

AFAIK Pressed metal corp manufactured some panels as well - e.g. the mudguards on SIIA military landies.

Both my landies are pretty much "made in Australia" as far as I am concerned. The (military) IIA had many of the parts made here. The 110 was shipped here as a CKD V8 county minus engine and some other bits. Was assembled here using a isuzu engine with the fitting kit and and a bellhousing made in OZ.

A great site - thanks I have bookmarked it. Also thanks to Uncle Ho for the additional information. RTA NSW called me today and confirmed that my car was last registered in 1981 in Trunkey Creek in NSW - they sending me a letter with the details they hold. They only hold records for 25 years and just got in my 1 year. For a govt department, the RTA were really helpful.

    Cheers
