    Chinese 4BD1?

I've seen this mentioned on a few threads - most recently here http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showpost.p...1&postcount=11

Does anyone know of a link or have more details?

Has anyone put one in a Land Rover?

Hello. The one i found was posted in this thread - the following discussion had some good advice/experience on the 4bd1(t) but i haven't heard of any results with the QMR import jobbies.

    http://www.aulro.com/afvb/showthread...733#post542733

I still haven't rung them to find out the source of their engines. I've been quoted $4000 for a rebuilt (liners, bearings pistons etc) 4bd1 and $8000 for a rebuilt (same same) 4bd1t.. so for the short term QMR looks cheap....

There are a couple around (don't know if they are made in the same place).

Dongfeng CY4102BZQ is an exact copy of the 4BD1T apparently. A complete engine with all ancillaries is about $6600.

Also this one is supposedly made by XinYu parts co.

I have never seen one of these in the flesh - but I have a mate who imports smaller chinese knockoff engines - BMW WWII motorbike engines (really!!!) and small (1L 3 cyl) diesels. I have heard the 4BD1 copies are a bit heavier then a genuine 4BD1 - I could believe it too, as the engines my mate imports have thicker castings than stock.

No, I couldnt believe that I have to change the buggers, a 500kg engine hoist struggles with the turbo ones.... and its no picnic with the NA's either....

Search for Hiundai as well, the Koreans make all sorts of Jap motors under licence.
I could have got a complete(all ancillaries) new Mitsi 4D56TI ready to run for just under $6 grand. And it was advertised as higher output than the original mitsi motor.

    chinese 4BD1

Apparently you will have problems bolting on the ancilleries from a genuine engine. I dont know if they come with the correct timing cover to fit the gear driven power steer pump etc. There are some guys in brisbane importing 4BD1T jap engines for around the 4K mark.

    Justin.

    ps
someone said the chinese have copied the industrial version of the engine, not the automotive version??????

on the NA type the major difference between the 2 is the fitting of the oil throwers for under side of the pistons, and some changes to the pumps and injectors... All good things If you happen to like driving engines the way I do. not so good for the top end of the power tho...

The turbo ones will come in one of 2 varieties.. with the throwers built into the con rod or with the same throwers as above. Different injectors again and a different pump setup again.... (and the pump can change in line with what inlet/exhaust and turbo it was originally supplied to suit)
