well....its all in the name.......bavarian money waster........
im guessing around half that amount.......about the $3,000 mark.......
Some friends of mine are staying with people they know in New Zealand and decided to drive up to the snow for a few days skiing, having kindly been allowed to borrow their BMW. They managed to get 75% of the way there before roasting the automatic transmission in the BMW.
My guess is they simply drove for 4 hours up a very very steep winding mountain in "D" drive and overheated the box to buggery... Of course Landy owners would know that autos are only 90% automatic... the other numbers are there for a reason.
They were rescued by the "friends" (I'd be questioning a relationship after blowing up your mates beemer) in their Prado which, funnily enough, got stuck in the snow for a decent while itself after attempting to tow the BMW. Clearly relations between the Japanese and the Germans leaves a lot to be desired.
Any guesses as to the repair bill?? I'm tipping $6,000

fixing the box for his Audi 100 cost $7000+
(then, about the price for a used Audi 100)......

"Joel, even though it may have been in D, it will start off in 1st and only change up if required, wouldnt have made any difference if they kept it in 1,2 or 3."
Isn't it true though, that when in Drive the box can shift up and down excessively say between D and 3, which causes overheating? I always leave the Disco in 3 on hills.
