    actually, pre the FORD take over, Land Rover Special Vehicles had their own web site and you could order various levels of "demountable" ballistic protection for Defenders. This meant that say a News agency could armour up a Defender in the Middle East, and when they replaced the car, retrofit the armour to their next Defender. You could specify the level of armour too I think, eg 9mm NATO pistol round or 50mm cannon shell.

    FORD have out sourced the special vehicles to Conrico and they show troopies and mercs on their web site. Go figure.

    I tell a lie, last time I checked they did, now I see Fords and Land Rovers again.

    edit: well sort of, the armoured cars are still mercs & cruisers.

    Have a look at one of the websites that describe the Perentie - these have a leaf spring rear suspension setup that is far more effective than the coil spring 6x6 conversions.
