The bloke from Land Rover Owner International Magazine was blown away by it, he loved it.
Land Rover arent out to sell a crap load of them like toyota do with the rav 4, they are targeting the luxury market and at the moment doing a bloody good job of manopolising it, the D3 is now classed in the luxury class, team that up with the RRS and the Vogue and they cover all bases, the Freelander was moved up a notch to compete with the X3, X5 and the Merc equivalent, it was being eaten alive in the category it was in previously, being compared to the Rav, Xtrail etc when it started some 10k more was never going to work, but they have done a Hyundai, compete with the level above, knock some 10k plus of their prices and give the purchaser all the fruit, it will do well in the market its aimed at. Sounds like a pretty impressive but of kit.... but I think you'd find most BMW buyers would factor in the depreciation when looking at the cost...
Lets face it even though we all love our landies... when it comes to the D word.... they are pretty sad..
I hope the Freelander sells really well.... but considering the previous freeelander reputation... I think they may struggle at that price point too...

Landrover might consider that the Freelander is competing with BMW and price accordingly but most people will consider it is competing against the RAVs, CRVs etc and as such will not be considered good value. People buy BMW for the name not necessarily because of what the car can or cannot do - as such they will pay more.
I do not think this freelander will sell well at all at this paypoint.
