Deb and I went up to the gravel pit today,Kiwi Dave brought his new toy for a test run.
Unfortunately he only made the tip turnoff. The uni joint in the home made Jack Shaft between the holden auto ant nissan transfercase failed.
One very dissapointed Dave, but happy on the other hand as he wants to come and play with the big boys.Wants to ensure everything is working before doing so.
There was evidence of old war wounds from a previous uni joint faliure,he is getting a new balanced jack shaft made with V8 unis instead of the 6cyl ones fitted.
Was impressed with my MTRs in the deep gravel, did with ease at highway pressure what the STs refused to do in the past.Deb with my old STs on the Rangie tried the same track and coulnt do it,TILL SHE TURNED THE LOCKERS ON!!!
Im not convinced its the tread on the MTRs,more the skinny long tyre senario. If so the D2 will go extremely well on the softest beach sand,as the gravel in the pit is worse than sand for floatation, its been pushed up by a dozer.
Lindsay had a ball, got the Rangie stuck in a big puddle at the bottom of a climb(STs hwy pressure).Wouldnt go forward or back and I wasnt about to get out into 1ft deep water. He engaged the lockers and normality resumedGave the pair of us a buzz!!!!
