    NASA train wreck

This should be in the Parking Lot but it also would make for a good Friday funny.

This is a NASA special train that stuffed up big time.

Fortunately, the only major injuries were a broken leg and broken hip.

The pictures tell the story but even though it is an expensive wreck, it does have it’s humours side.

To start with, the cars carrying the shuttle parts are clearly marked “DO NOT HUMP” and no that does not mean that over sexed dogs should be kept at a distance.

In rail lingo, HUMPING is a method of shunting, where the whole train is pushed up over a hump and each car then rolls down the other side and is automatically directed to anyone of up to 20 different track, where the car rolls along till it reaches any other cars on that track.

This system of shunting is very efficient and very quick BUT it can be a bit rough so delicate items, LIKE SHUTTLE PARTS and so they are not humped but as you can see they ended up humped anyway.

Next, the red box car which the yellow steel frames is a clearance checking vehicle.

In Australia, this wagon would be called an “ Out of Gauge car “ but, according to the info that came with the pictures, in America it’s called a “ Kamikaze Clearance Detector “ That broke me up

Last but not least, again according to the info supplied, there were plenty of witnesses to the bridge collapse, namely the bridge repair crew that was working on it at the time.

Lots of people looking for a new job on Monday.
