Worth a thought, I might try the cold turkey first, I got inspiration from watching a junkie outside a train station the other day he was begging, scratching and sweating and completely pathetic site plus he was wrecking my view of a young blonde. My initial thought was this guy is a complete waste of O2. Then I got thinking, there are not many difference between Nicotine addiction and the addiction he has (apart from the fact I wouldn't stoop to the levels he would to get my next fix)

Sure there is a physical side to the addiction, but the mental addiction, habit breaking is harder. I had a 6 month break before, then I had one, then a couple, then a pack. Patches take weeks to ween you off, If I'm going to suffer and feel like crap for a week or two I don't need a patch to prolong it longer than it has to be. You've seen zee shunkies at the stations, there wouldn't be much difference between me on patches and that pathetic soul looking for his next hit or if he cannot afford it daily dose of the sweet, government provided substitute.

I need to test my will power.

    Anyhow, I'm craving a Winfield.

I'm not going to have one though

That first bloke was one of the station staff?

Re patches, since putting the first one on, I haven't another cigarette.

Find something distracting to do with your hands, worry beads or a keyring to fiddle with. Take up swimming.

GST was the final cure for me,

After 14 years of a pack a day (didn't matter what size although I was so concerned when I smoked a pack of 50 per day for a week that I went back to the winnies) I had tried everything that was around at the time, and the most I lasted was 2-3 weeks.

After going oversea's and returning after GST came in (2000) I decieded to stop. When I got to the last packet (duty free) I wandered in to a shop to find that the cost for one packet was $3 less than 5 packets duty free. Time to quit.

Then about 3 years ago I started to bank the money I was saving. I did an approx of the cost when I was smoking and as I had just changed jobs I set up a direct payment into another account. Best thing I ever did. Thinking about a camper trailer now.

Im an occasional smoker. I love rolling up a champion ruby, but I have strick mental rules... no more than 4 packs a year! Every so often I can have a smoke, but never had the addiction to keep going. Theres proof that addiction is more genetical, so those with a higher addiction gene will naturally find it harder to give up.

My friend gave up for a while by smoking cigarettes he abosulutely hated. He went from Drum rollies to Camel tailors, gave up pretty quickly.

I stopped smoking for ten years started up again, stopped after two years took it up again stopped a year later haven't had a smoke in about five years now.

roll reversal has set in now with my lovely lady told her if you smoke no more bed time fun. Now THAT was hard to keep to but I won, clean smelling breath lovely.

I sort of get the odd pang occasionally until I smell someone who smokes and it stinks. I dont look at it as will power I look at it as wont power - no I wont have a smoke. The extra weight is a pain though neighter of us have been able to lose it, I gained about 5kg not sure about the missus not game to ask.
