What's a real Land Rover Person...

Firstly, the Cranky One reckons I should never go near the computer after 10pm when I have had a beer ... and considering the "Ol Fella" has been a bit crook and not had a beer for three weeks until tonight the Cranky One's advice might be pretty good....

But I've just read a thread on the Land Rover wave and another thread about a codger who has left the world of Land Rovers because of his experience with a Freelander.

Combined, these threads set me thinking as to what exactly is a "Land Rover person".

Now I'm a Newbie to this site, so I don't want to be trying to post as "an Old Hand" - but the thoughts of the Old Hands on this would be appreciated.

But allow me to indulge myself and tell my thoughts on what is a Land Rover Person..... damn, it is my thread

I thought to be a Land Rover person you must have first owned a Series - I owned a Series and it certainly lets you know what it takes to own a Land Rover - either mechanical skills, good mechanical mates or a fat wallet.

Owned a County then - this should have qualified me a Land Rover person - I was used to the wave by then but i have to confess even at this stage I just thought I had a better four wheel drive - I didn't understand the unique "club" of Land Rovers - and I didn't fully comprehend the charisma of Land Rovers.

Now this is a surprise.... or it was to me when I contemplated (and that is a bloody good word for 11pm on a Saturday night) - I traded the Country for a top-of-the-line '97 V8 Disco (the Cranky One said - just before I left for a week away with work - do something about that Red Monster or it will be a Daewoo when you get back....A Daewoo!!!!!!!!!!! Thus the Disco.......anyway that was the vehicle which enlightened me to the world of Land Rovers.....what a magnificent piece of machinery........luxury, power, go absolutely anywhere with ease and pure heaven to drive... and never let me down....and......................... at that point of time other Disco drivers waved

Moving on.... the Cranky One and I always wave at Defenders and I try to be "funny" and wave at RR and Discos - but as she says .......and The Cranky One coined the phrase....when they don't wave... "ah their not real Land Rover people"

I have to say - the bloke who doesn't wave bought his Disco or whatever without any knowledge of the heritage etc., and will most likely trade it for the next yuppie flavor of the month, - the bloke who posts his departure on this site was never a Land Rover Person - just a wannabe and couldn't cut the mustard..

So what do you reckon it takes to be a real Land Rover Person?

Get off the Crack, get off the net, go to bed, and go shag the "Cranky One" ... this will make her less cranky, you will get some loving and in the morning it will feel alot better.

While your making the world a better place, sell ya stinking disco, buy the ONLY real landrover, a Defender, then people will once again respect you enought to wave again!

Tongue in cheek in jest and all that

Cammo... bit of respect of mate..... no real need for talk along those lines......this is a public forum and viewed by ladies and youngsters who will upkeep the traditions of the Green Oval. There are kids interested in Land Rovers ....aren't there?

Now, more to the point, as a Defender owner what do you reckon it takes to be a real Land Rover Person (don't you hate these days of politically correct bullsh*t)

stuff it.. real Land Rover Bloke....

Yeah.. umm sorry .. but this is Australia ..

If you think the words shag and moan is bad, go turn on your tv at 3:30, 4:30 and 5:30 .. see what the kids see on TV .. those two words are nothing, ask a 15 yr old about s3x and they will give you a better explanation and techniques you can only read about on the net ...

Polictical correctness is great.. I think we are just going a little overboard

Anyway time to have my last beer and go make the miss's moan.
