Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
Surprise that it's the engine. I'd have thought that the engine was pretty faultproof after having been in so many Transit vans. Is the Defender engine a direct drop in from transit?
Cheers
Simon
See, well I have heard nothing but bad reports from transit owners and drivers that reckon the transit engine is the biggest POS on the market. One guy had his for 12 months and had 3 engines in it.
Aparently it has major dramas overheating??
But thats what they get for putting in a Furd engine.

Interesting that they asked for the engine back for evaluation. Hopefully that means they are trying to jump on problems before they get too widespread.
Actually i'm kinda relieved that they want the engine for evaluation. proves that they are taking it seriously.
Apparently it's the petrol engine in the transit that is a POS, apparently the diesel is pretty good. Depends on who you talk to a bit though.

I really hope this is not a case of the same old Land Rover. Does not sound good. You would of thought by now after all these years Land Rover had learn't that the public wants the bugs ironed out before the product is released to the market.
Come on guys... Just coz someone has a problem, doesn't mean that they're all doomed!!! Interesting to read about wanting the engine back for evaluation...

PS. The diesel transit is the one everyone raves about.
I must admit if someone loans me a car, no matter the circumstances I tend to treat it as if it were my ownI picked up a MINI loan car with 90k on it once and he was amazed that I assumed normal break-in procedure with it. (light load, varying revs).
I reckoned someone was going to end up with it one day and I might like them
