What is the story with the roof??
Still chasing a defender 130 DC and have found one located at Carsell pty ltd. I rang the bloke up and spoke to Arthur, and can't fault the vehicle over the phone. http://tinyurl.com/2d4y6w
These guys are at 20 Parramatta Rd Homebush in Sydney I believe. I am a bit hesitant to purchase the vehicle sight unseen and would be most grateful if anyone is in the area if they could take a look for me. Has anyone had dealings with this lot?
Any comments greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Gillie.

If you take it the Rego plates might be worth something to one of our NSW members.

How soon do you need this done, I am about 20 minutes away, is it a Td5, if so I can help but know nothing about the 300s (from its age its a 300)
Anyway I get up there maybe once a week, and happy to give it the once over... its missing the driver / pass mats :-)
Saw the rego plates and thought they were pretty trick! The vehile is definelty TDI 300. Not sure what is going on with all the checkerplate. Good call with the Alpine windows, not 100% sure on that. Looking at others they seem to not have them but one pic I looked at may have them. I am sure someone will be able to clear that up. Not sure If the wife will let me go for something with that many Kays. The 3 year warranty is basically if anything goes wrong they will put up to $1500 towards repairs. I would be more likely to purchase unseen from members here than from a car yard. Just can't bring myself to trust them! Looked at a defender that went to Auction today. 03 130 dual cab with 47000 on the clock. Bidding started at $28,000 and finished at $35,000. plus auction fees of just over $300. Nothing cheap at the auctions! If someone saw it and says it ok I reckon I could swing the wife around to say yes............ Maybe. But I do where the pants in this relationship! .........really, ok somtimes... Alright not at All!![]()

This seems to be a common problem, any comments?

The vehicle appeared on ebay today, and I've got a mate (in Melb) who's also interested in it. In his case. he's after an older Defender as a 2nd / REAL 4WD.
Well, hopefully it's in good nic chassis and mechanically and will go to a good home and join aulro.
If you find out anything about it, and decide not to buy, let me know. If I find out anything untoward, I'll PM you.
But it looks like a good buy on the surface (from the few photos on the net) if you're not after an immaculate show pony.
I will try to go and have a look tomorrow or the next day. Only ten minutes down the road from me, so in theory should be easy.
Unfortunately, like my attempt to go to the expo, theory doesn't always work, this week is full of vomit, everyone except me, washing machine is on 24 duty.
My '96 130 doesn't have alpine windows.
Cheers
Simon
Thanks for the replies. I would love to hear from anyone that can take a look. I will watch the thread closely tomorrow looking for updates with cheque book in hand! The wife had a look tonight searching for defender 130's for sale to get a gauage on pricing and saw the thread posted earlierand gave that look that women give. But all said and done she too is keen to hear what others might say about it, given the problems that we have had with TDI's in the past. Not looking for anything fancy as during the week it will be main mode of transport but on weekends it will be in tractor mode. White is such a good colour off road as you can take it up the back and you can't see any scratches.
Thanks to everyone!
