I know bloke he paid $2000 in total for rear axels and ARB locker (+air compressor etc.) fitted on 89'RR 5 weeks ago. $680 for axels from memory.

    Maxidrive axles for defender

    Thanks for all your replies.
I will get the "free" stock axles replaced under warranty. Along with my clutch master cylinder.
When I quoted under $700 dollars for the Maxidrive axles to the service manager, he seemed somewhat surprised. Seems he is not used to dealing with people who don't own RR's RRSprots, or D3's.
Overall have been happy with the service they provide, but will be taking my car elsewhere once the warranty has expired.

    Cheers,

    Ken

    **** him! Take the freebies!

But you've burnt your bridge now - you could have offered to supply him the axles at $1000 a set and "that leaves plenty of margin for the workshop". LOL!

Pretty much the same answer I got from Britpart here when I was enquiring about them.

    putting off the inevitable

Mudnut, I hate to say it you are putting off the inevitable I would try and come to a deal with them and get the maxi's fitted!
my axles were fitted under warranty at 40,000 again at 80,000 with me paying 25% because the vehicle was nearly out of warranty (100,000 km) dispite the axles only having done 40,000 odd km and at 128,891 km they went again bought maxi's for a few hundred more than the 25% fitted them myself and never looked back had them out the other week as I was checking wheel bearings before a big trip, 176,000 km and they look brand new!

I'd try and get them to buy in the maxis at RRP (less the trade cost of the warranty replacements you're entitled to), and then fit them for free under warranty?

Bugger....they just did my rear axles under warranty at 56k, looks like is should have negotiated the maxis also.

Suspect the fronts may be on the way out too, but of noise there - they were trying to tell me its just my tyres (goodyear mtr4) but i'm pretty sure its not.

LR will NOT do this... I tried in 2001

LR dealers are only allowed to fit LR parts

When my brother in law was service manager at a dealer, he managed to get a pair of maxi drive axles fitted to a customers car totally covered by the warrenty! At the time, the Maxi drive axles were actually cheaper than the crap genuine ones!
