Question Car Transport - Perth to Gold Coast

Greetings fellow AULROians. As pointed out in a previous thread, I have accepted a transfer from Perth to the Gold Coast, which is now set to finally go ahead.
I am looking for recommendations on the best car carrier to transport my beloved Disco to our new home.
(By best, I mean most cost effective AND reliable)

Sooooo, let me know who you've used and would recommend.

    Cheers.

It sounds like a good road trip.

Are you sure you don't want to drive?

What about someone driving the car for you, and grabbing a cheap airfare home? Maybe pay 60% of the fuel and someone can drive it across for you.

If it breaks down, your RAC Total Care will tow it the rest of the way.

I think all the car carriers have amalgamated recently into 2 main freight companies. Last time I tried to get a quote one of them wouldn't deal with me unless I had a commercial account.

ha ha classic, I'm just about to do the exact opposite.

I looked around everywhere and all the prices are pretty expensive (min $1500 up to $2500). Admitedly its only a mazda (we are driving the defender accross the top). We found it cheaper to load the car up, and thereby save household frieght costs, drive it and then fly back to the Goldy than frieghting an empty car.

I think this makes sense, but the frieght companies will not let you have anything but the spare tyre in the vehicle, so its cheaper in the long run to load up the car and enjoy the 4,500km trip, particularly if you got a oneway trailer hire from www.moveyourself.com (Wanneroo to Mermaid Beach).

Go to www.whereis.com and it will show you the quickest driving route.

I guess it depends on whether you are getting relocation costs?? if so go Toll, or www.movingagain.com.au, or any of the big freight companies.

If I had more time I would offer to drive your car from Perth back to the Goldy, but flights already booked and settling off in 7 days.

hope this helps. all the best.

    Jimmy
